Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A.》、《J. Biol. Chem.》等国内外著名刊物上发表学术论文130余篇。
Gad’s lab studies follows on the aspartate-family metabolic network and autophagy as respective model systems for the interaction between metabolism and cell biology with plant physiology and development. The aspartate-family pathway is a multiple functional pathway, leading to the synthesis of the amino acids lysine, threonine and methionine as well as their further catabolism into many other primary and secondary metabolites that play significant roles in plant development and adaptation to stress conditions. The classical autophagy is defined as a cell biology process, which enables the adaptation of plants to nutrient starvation stress through the formation of specific membranous structures, called autophagosomes, which delivered cytoplasmic material and various organelles into the vacuoles for degradation. They find that autophagosome-like structures are formed during plant growth not only under nutrient starvation stress, but also under normal plant growth and development. Their results also suggest multiple physiological roles for autophagy in plant development and adaptation to stress conditions.
